Electrolysis has been a part of my life since I was 13 years old.
Being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, I finally had an explanation for my superfluous hair. I subsequently turned my problem into my profession, and in 1984, I established Huntersville Electrolysis.
I am a member of the American Electrology Association (AEA), a national organization, as well as the state organization, Electrolysis Association of North Carolina (EANC). I was made president of the EANC in January 2012.
In 1986, I took a voluntary examination which was instituted to offer credentials to practitioners who successfully pass this comprehensive examination. Electrologists who pass the exam are then certified and authorized to place the letters CPE after their name. At that time a certification was important because North Carolina was an unlicensed state. In 1992 North Carolina became a licensed state.
Each year I participate in our state's continuing education seminars which keeps me updated on the latest technology and techniques and is a requirement to keep my license current.
